Childhood Cancers: Signs & Symptoms (Part 1)

Childhood cancers are relatively rare, but early recognition is key to improving outcomes - they can be cured in 70% of cases with early recognition and treatment. In an emergency care setting, ambulance clinicians may be the first medical professionals to encounter symptoms or signs that could suggest a malignancy. This means you have a critical role when it comes to recognising symptoms and making an early specialist referral.

A working knowledge of common childhood cancer signs and symptoms, effective communication strategies, and appropriate training resources will help you provide optimal care for paediatric patients with suspected cancer.

@DirkHuffa shows us what we need to be looking for and when an urgent specialist referral is indicated.
